2018 Summer Reading

LCMS would like to continue to promote the love of reading and continue to develop literary skills over the summer break. All students are required to read and participate in summer reading. The assignment has been distributed to our rising 7th and 8th graders before the end of this school year and has been distributed to our feeder elementary schools for our incoming 6th grades. The accompanying link provides the specific assignment and due date. Students may obtain a copy of the novel from local libraries, online, or purchase at specific Barnes & Noble locations (Oviedo Market Place, Altamonte Mall and Waterford Lakes).

Girls’ Volleyball Tryout Information

Tryouts will be held in the gym from 4-5:45 on:

Monday, August 27th

Thursday, August 30th

** To participate, all players must have a current Sports Physical Form on file and Health Insurance.**

Practices will be on Tuesdays from 4-6 p.m. and Fridays from 8-9 a.m. and games are on Wednesdays. Players must be able to fully commit to these days.

LCMS Cheerleading Tryouts for 2018-2019

2018 LCMS Cheer Tryouts

Cheer Tryouts will be held in the Black Box (5-001)

MONDAY, August 27th, 2018 (4:00 – 5:30pm)

WEDNESDAY, August 29th, 2018 (3:00 – 4:30pm)

THURSDAY, August 30st, 2018 (4:00 – 5:30pm)



Socks & tennis shoes / comfortable athletic clothing/ hair pulled back/ no jewelry

Tryout Requirements:

  • Must attend all three days of tryouts
  • All potential student-athletes must have a current sports physical on file prior to trying out for any sports team on campus. The physical form must be fully completed for the athlete to be released for tryouts. LCMS onsite sports physicals are available if needed, $20 @ LCMS– August 21st, 2018 - 6:00pm-8:00pm
  • All student-athletes must also have some form of insurance – personal or school based to participate.  

Cheer team requirements:

  • Activity fee: $60 (for the school year), which may be submitted by cash or check (made payable to LCMS) once the team is decided.
  • Must attend cheer practices every Monday (4:00pm – 5:30pm) in the Black Box
  • Cheer team will cheer at all Fall HOME Volleyball games (5) and all Spring HOME Basketball games (5) - held Wednesday evenings, as well as various community events and parades throughout the school year.
  • Cheer team will participate in up to 2 fundraisers for the year, for various team items (bows, bags, t-shirts, etc.).

LCMS Sports Physical Night

Our Annual Sports Physical Night will take place on Tuesday, August 21st beginning at 6:00 pm. This night provides our students an opportunity to have their SCPS sports physical completed with a local physician quickly on our campus. Students can have their physicals completed for $20 and the physical will cover them for all sports during the 2018-2019 school year. Proceeds from the physical night go to support programs on our campus.
