Dear LCMS Panther Families,
I am so excited to be back at Lawton Chiles!
For those of you who do not know me, I was one of the original teachers who opened LCMS in portables in the parking lot of Jackson Heights Middle School in the 1999-2000 school year. We then opened the Lockwood campus, which became Phase 1 of Hagerty HS when we moved to the current location.
I am a second-generation product of Seminole County Public Schools and have been an educator for 26 years, with 25 of those spent here in SCPS. I started at Teague MS before moving to Oviedo to open Chiles. Since leaving Chiles, I have served as a Dean at Millennium MS, and an Assistant Principal at both Indian Trails MS and Tuskawilla MS.
I look forward to continuing the sense of family and tradition that has long been a part of the Lawton Chiles experience.
I have two goals for the 2020-2021 school year:
- Continue the tradition of excellence of our high achieving students on FSAs, EOCs and Industry Certifications.
- Investigate to see how we can better support those students who may be struggling academically or otherwise.
Later this summer, I will be hosting online WebEx meetings for students and parents to “meet” me and ask any questions they may have. Please stay tuned for details.
Additionally, I would like to invite you to follow us on our social media platforms for the most up-to-date information.
Please find us on Facebook, Twitter & Instagram @ChilesMiddle
I look forward to making this the best middle school experience for our Panthers.
Dr. Melissa A Laudani
Principal, Lawton Chiles Middle School
