History

Lawton Chiles Middle School opened in 1999 in 13 portables on the Jackson Heights campus to alleviate overcrowding. Sixth and Seventh grade students attended core academic classes with LCMS teachers in the portables but went to elective classes with JHMS teachers.

In the Fall of 2000, LCMS moved to Lockwood Boulevard as a free-standing school. Rezoning occurred to transfer students from surrounding middle schools to fill the new location.

In the Fall of 2004, LCMS moved to its current location on Sanctuary Drive and the Lockwood campus began construction to become the current Hagerty High School.
