All About the First Day, Devices and Social Media Advisory

Posted Date: 8/10/25 (3:30 PM)

Here it is - all the information you need about the First Day of School - including car line, walker/bike rider, & bus procedures. Please see the images below.

New Personal Electronic Devices Law: I understand that there is lots of concern regarding the new Personal Electronic Devices Law. Yes, it applies to ALL electronic devices (phones, smart watches, tablets, games, etc.). Yes, they must be put on silent at the first bell (9:25 am) and then put in their backpack. Teachers will have designated backpack areas in their classroom. Students will not be able to access their phones when they go to the bathroom. They will not be allowed to use them during lunch. Yes, you can call the front office and leave a message to be delivered to your child - ONLY if it is regarding a change in transportation for the end of the day. Please understand this is not a school or district policy. This is a STATE LAW that we must enforce. The place to issue complaints is with your state legislators.

Social Media Advisory: Please be careful joining random parent groups on FB. We have discovered several groups claiming to be for parents of students in the Oviedo area; however, those parents never had children at that school.  If they did have children there, it was years ago and with the constantly changing legislation & faculty,  their experiences, and any information they have are no longer relevant. It is especially important to be wary with the anonymous feature. You really have no idea who is giving out information.
