Principal Update

Dear Panther families,

Congratulations Mrs. Maiden who has been named the Seminole County Farm Bureau 2026 Agriculture Educator of the Year!! "Your leadership of the National Agriculture Day Job Fair and your commitment to connecting students with agricultural careers made a lasting impression." We are so fortunate for the experiences she brings to our students. Way to go, Mrs. Maiden!

Last Friday, LCMS Panthers honored and remembered 9/11 by wearing red, white and blue.

Last week, students in Mrs. Rose's 6th grade ELA classes completed a "Would you survive?" activity before reading an excerpt from the book, Hatchet. As a team, they had to pick 4 items they would bring with them to survive if they were stranded. After they made their selections, they were given a scenario of varying issues and had to problem solve using the items they chose.

Last week, Mrs. Dillard's US History classes played a game that put students in the shoes of early colonies trading resources to help teach the concept of mercantilism.

Last week, in Mrs. Bond's Design: Engineering, students learned about Rube Goldberg machines and the 6 simple machines. Students worked in teams and designed a silly contraption that solved a simple task. Way to go!

Wednesday was our Volleyball season opener against Indian Trails. Both Boys JV and Varsity came away with the win in 2 sets! Shout out to the LCMS Cheerleaders for keeping the crowd going. Go Panthers!!

This week our very own PTSA President, Yadi Soto, was recognized by the Florida PTA: Today, we proudly recognize Yadi Soto, a Puerto Rican PTA leader and SCCPTA (Seminole County Council PTA) President from Oviedo in Seminole County.
For more than a decade, Yadi has served PTA with a focus on inclusion, connection, and ensuring every voice matters. Through her leadership at the Seminole County Council of PTAs, Hagerty High School PTSA, and LCMS PTSA, she has worked to bring families, students, educators, and community partners together while creating opportunities for everyone to feel welcomed and valued.
Yadi strives to be a visible and encouraging representative for Hispanic families and believes PTA is strongest when we listen, build meaningful relationships, and make sure everyone has a seat at the table.
“I PTA because it fills my heart. I love building meaningful connections with families and students, seeing the joy on a child’s face, and making sure every student knows they are seen, heard, and valued. Most of all, I want to be an example for my own children—to show them the importance of serving others, leading with love, and caring for humanity.”
Thank you, Yadi, for leading with love and helping families throughout your community know that they belong in PTA!

Lastly, I have received some complaints from the daycare and bank on the corner. Those are private businesses and are not to be used as pick up spots for your car rider. Thank you.

Have a great week!

📅 September is National Attendance Awareness Month!

Did you know that regular school attendance is one of the strongest predictors of student academic success? When students attend school consistently, they are more likely to stay engaged in learning, build positive relationships, maintain academic progress, and achieve their goals. Every school day provides valuable opportunities for growth, learning, and connection.
✅ Tips for Parents to Support Attendance:
• Establish a consistent bedtime and morning routine.
• Schedule appointments outside of school hours whenever possible.
• Talk with your child about the importance of being present and engaged in learning.
• Communicate with the school when concerns arise that may impact attendance.
We understand that families may encounter challenges that make getting to school difficult. If barriers such as transportation, housing concerns, health issues, family circumstances, or other needs are affecting your child's attendance, support is available.
💙 Please reach out to your school's assigned School Social Worker, Mrs. Treco, for assistance, resources, and connections to supports that can help your child attend school regularly and thrive.
Every Day Counts. Every Student Matters. Every Attendance Success Story Starts with Showing Up.

PTSA Reflections

REFLECTIONS IS BACK, PANTHERS!
New to LCMS or Reflections? This National PTA arts program gives students a chance to share their creativity, tell their story, and even advance beyond the school level!
This year’s theme: “What My Culture Means to Me”
Culture can be your family, traditions, food, music, language, community, celebrations—or anything that has helped shape who YOU are.
Choose your creative outlet:
Visual Arts •  Photography •  Literature
 Music •  Film •  Dance •
You don’t have to call yourself an “artist.” Bring your ideas, your perspective and your creativity. We saw just how talented our Panthers were last year, and we’re ready to see even MORE of you participate this year!
Rules, guidelines & details: lcmsptsa.com/reflections
So Panthers… what does YOUR culture mean to you?
