This week administrators visited all classrooms to review the PAWS Expectations and discuss behavior concerns with them. Below is the script that was shared:
Good morning Panthers,
Welcome back! We hope you had a great break and are ready to finish the school year strong.
As we return to campus, this is a good time to review our PAWS expectations: Practice Safety,
Act Responsibly, Work Hard, and Show Respect.
First, we need to address a behavior that has recently been reported on campus. Pulling down another student’s pants, sometimes called “pantsing,” is not a joke and will not be tolerated. This behavior is considered unsafe and disrespectful. Any student who engages in this behavior will receive an automatic discipline referral, which may result in suspension.
Second, please remember that profanity and inappropriate language are not acceptable at
school. Speaking respectfully to one another and to staff is part of showing the maturity we
expect from Panthers.
Another reminder is about academic honesty. Using AI, copying someone else’s work, or giving your work to someone else to submit is a violation of the Student Conduct Code. We want to see your own thinking and your own effort.
We have also seen an increase in students taking items that do not belong to them. Even small items matter. Taking something that is not yours is considered theft, and referrals for theft
become part of your discipline record.
Next, a reminder about bathroom expectations. Bathrooms are not hang-out areas. Students
should use the restroom quickly and appropriately, with one person per stall, and then return to class promptly.
Finally, remember that cell phones are not permitted from the first bell until the dismissal bell. Phones should remain put away during the school day.
Panthers, we know you are capable of great things. Let’s finish this school year by following the PAWS expectations, showing maturity, and treating each other with respect.
Thank you, and let’s have a great day.
